The Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems has opened registration for farmers interested in joining the Produce for Lagos initiative, a N500 billion scheme launched in July 2025 to boost food production and supply for the state’s growing population.
Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Abisola Olusanya, said the programme will give farmers direct access to a secure market where their produce will be purchased at guaranteed prices.
She noted that the move will protect farmers from losses caused by fluctuating quality and volumes, while also ensuring price stability for Lagos consumers.
“The programme focuses on boosting food production within Lagos and building strategic partnerships with farmers in major food-producing states across the country,” Olusanya explained.
The initiative is designed to strengthen the food supply chain by improving interstate agricultural trade, logistics, and distribution networks.
It will also increase farmers’ income while ensuring steady food availability in Nigeria’s largest consumer market, home to more than 24 million residents.
Farmers who register will be integrated into a central database, which the state government will use for planning, interventions, and support services delivery under the scheme.
The Lagos State government is encouraging farmers nationwide to sign up via the official registration link on the ministry’s website.
