Summary

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking a State Coordinator to lead the implementation of the I-Youth 2.0 project in Lagos State. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day implementation of I-Youth 2.0 activities in Lagos State.
  • Ensure project activities are delivered in line with approved work plans, budgets, and timelines.
  • Supervise and manage the state project team, including technical officers and field or mobilisation staff.
  • Coordinate state-level training, enterprise development, and incubation activities for youth agripreneurs.
  • Support the recruitment, selection, and progress tracking of programme participants.
  • Oversee the operations of the state-based Agribusiness Park or incubation hub, where applicable.
  • Build and maintain relationships with state government ministries and agencies, community institutions, private-sector actors, and financial institutions.
  • Ensure accurate collection, management, and reporting of monitoring and evaluation data.
  • Maintain the state-level network of I-Youth-trained agripreneurs and alumni.
  • Manage the state project budget and procurement processes in compliance with IITA policies and donor requirements.
  • Prepare timely narrative and financial reports for submission to the Country Coordinator.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, ethics, and other organisational policies.
  • Identify, manage, and escalate implementation risks and challenges to the Country Coordinator where necessary.
  • Represent the project at relevant meetings, events, and stakeholder engagements within Lagos State.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, Development Studies, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • At least five years of relevant experience in programme or project implementation.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a supervisory or team leadership role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to communicate in the predominant local language of the assigned state.
