Summary

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking a Project Officer to support the planning, coordination, and implementation of project activities at its headquarters in Ibadan. The successful candidate will coordinate high-level meetings and stakeholder engagements, monitor project progress, manage documentation, and support the delivery of major research and development projects, including at least two EU-Horizon projects.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project meetings, workshops, conferences, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Manage schedules, logistics, invitations, briefing materials, and meeting documentation.
  • Monitor project timelines, deliverables, and follow-up actions.
  • Support the preparation of work plans, activity schedules, and progress reports.
  • Liaise with government agencies, partners, consultants, and service providers.
  • Maintain project records, databases, and filing systems.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, meeting minutes, and communication materials.
  • Support procurement processes, budget monitoring, and project expenditure tracking.
  • Assist with stakeholder management and project communications.
  • Contribute to the implementation of EU-Horizon-funded projects.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Sciences, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar role within a structured organisation.
  • Strong communication, report-writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
  • Experience supporting high-level meetings and multi-stakeholder engagements.
  • Excellent organisational, coordination, and time-management skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
