Summary

ECOWAS seeks a visionary leader to drive economic integration and agricultural transformation across its 15 member states. This high-level role is central to harmonising policies and fostering food security for over 400 million citizens.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the elaboration and implementation of the ECOWAS Agricultural Policy (ECOWAP).
  • Secure technical and financial resources and oversee the regional program.
  • Align the agricultural sector with trade, customs, industry, and research sectors.
  • Develop innovative dialogue frameworks between farmers, policymakers, researchers, and financial partners.
  • Implement rigorous M&E mechanisms to track the impact of regional programs.
  • Organise the Directorate for optimal efficiency, ensuring clear reporting lines and delegated authority.

Requriement

  • Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Business Administration, or Regional Planning and Development.
  • 12 years of relevant experience combining economic/quantitative analysis with policy engagement.
  • Proven track record in agribusiness and value chain development within the context of rural transformation.
  • Deep knowledge of crop production, livestock, and fishing sectors.
  • Capacity to develop a regional vision and adjust strategies to changing political or economic circumstances.
  • Ability to manage a network of technical specialists and decision-makers across member states.
  • Demonstrated ability to mobilise significant technical and financial support.
