The Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, has hosted the Nigeria–Türkiye Business Council (NTBC) in Abuja to formalise a strategic partnership to modernise livestock.

This meeting, which was held at the Ministry’s headquarters, is to integrate Turkish technology and investment into Nigeria’s cattle breeding, vaccine manufacturing, and dairy value chains.

Minister Maiha highlighted that the Nigerian livestock sector is “open for business,” offering vast investment potential in feed and fodder production, ranching, dairy development, and vaccine manufacturing.

He specifically identified breed improvement through advanced genetics and the development of grazing reserves as priority areas where Turkish expertise could play a transformative role.

By integrating Turkish technology into Nigeria’s meat processing and cold-chain logistics, the Ministry will improve quality assurance and streamline the transportation of livestock products nationwide.

The Chairman of the Nigeria–Türkiye Business Council, Dele Kelvin Oye (Esq.), stated that Türkiye’s advanced systems in poultry production, artificial insemination, and pasture management offer practical blueprints for Nigeria’s current reforms.

Oye emphasised the Council’s readiness to bridge the gap between Nigerian and Turkish investors, focusing on the leather value chain and livestock equipment manufacturing.
