Atinuke Ajeniyi | 30th December 2025

The Federal Ministry of Livestock Development has conducted a series of training for youths and women on quality livestock feed production and micro-livestock value chains occurred between 20 and 23 December 2025.

The training took place in Plateau, Ekiti, Ondo, Enugu, Anambra states, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The Department of Livestock Extension and Business Development organised the sessions. Mr Joseph Ako, the department’s director, oversaw the initiative.

Mr Ako said the training built technical and entrepreneurial skills.

“The objective is to equip participants with practical skills in feed formulation, poultry, and micro-livestock production,” he stated.

“These use sustainable and biosecure practices for income generation and better livelihoods.”

The programme supports the ministry’s goal of sustainable, inclusive livestock systems. It targets youths and women to unlock sector potential.

In Plateau State, youths learned feed formulation at Shalom Agro Feedmill in Jos on 20 December 2025.

The session covered safe processing and local raw materials

Women and youths received on-farm training in beekeeping and snail farming in Ekiti, Ondo, and the FCT.

These focused on low-capital enterprises with high income.

Poultry value chain training occurred in Enugu, Anambra, and the FCT.

The FCT session was at Ejiwumi Farm in Gwagwalada, Abuja and emphasis was on biosecure production.

Outcomes include better feed skills, youth confidence in enterprises, best practice adoption, and livestock feed chain growth, especially in Plateau.
