The Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA) has engaged key stakeholders in Ghana’s cashew industry to review the minimum producer price ahead of the 2025/2026 Raw Cashew Nut (RCN) season.
The meeting, held in Techiman, Bono East Region, brought together farmers, traders, exporters, processors, and nursery operators to ensure transparency and collaboration in pricing.
According to a statement from the Ghana News Agency, the session focused on explaining the parameters used to determine the minimum producer price.
Stakeholders were briefed on global market trends, production forecasts, quality standards, and cost components, as well as the pricing mechanism approved under the Tree Crops Development Authority Act, 2019 (Act 1010), and the Tree Crops Development Authority Regulations, L.I. 2471 (2023).
The indicative price was calculated using a Free On Board (FOB) price of $1,400 per metric tonne based on 48 KOR/180 nut count with a maximum moisture content of 10%, alongside a six-month average exchange rate of GH¢11.0241 and relevant statutory costs.
This generated a price of $1,012.08 per metric tonne, equivalent to GH¢11,157.34, or GH¢11.157 per kilogram.
After discussions, stakeholders agreed on a round figure of GH¢12.00 per kilogram as the minimum producer price for the 2025/2026 season. The price will be reviewed periodically in line with market conditions.
Dr Andy Osei Okrah, TCDA CEO, said the engagement highlights efforts to ensure stakeholder participation and transparency in price determination, reinforcing trust across the cashew value chain.
