Summary

Babban Gona is seeking an experienced ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Officer to support its mission of empowering smallholder farmers while driving sustainable and responsible growth.

Responsibilities

• Support environmental and social compliance across all operations.
• Assist in implementing and continuously improving ESG policies, procedures, and performance frameworks.
• Identify potential environmental and social risks and support mitigation efforts.
• Build internal capacity by training teams on sustainability practices and ESG responsibilities.
• Coordinate with partners, regulators, and internal stakeholders to advance sustainability initiatives.
• Monitor, document, and report on ESG performance to support decision-making and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Agriculture, Social Sciences, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience in ESG, sustainability, or environmental and social risk management, preferably in agriculture or social enterprises.
• Proven expertise in developing and implementing ESG policies, systems, and compliance frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of environmental and social risk assessment, mitigation, and reporting standards.
• Experience engaging with stakeholders, including regulators, donors, and community partners.
