A Ghanaian agritech startup, PureLube Ghanahas won the 2025 GoGettaz Agripreneur Impact Award at the Africa Food Systems (AFS) Forum in Senegal for pioneering an eco-friendly solution that converts cashew nut shells into lubricants for farm machinery.
The company, co-founded by Fareeda Mustapha and currently incubated under the Kosmos Innovation Centre (KIC) Business Incubation Accelerator, was recognised for its pioneering solution that reduces machinery downtime for farmers, cuts reliance on imported lubricants, and creates new job opportunities.
PureLube received a US$15,000 grant to expand its operations and increase production.
Fareeda described the recognition as “life-changing,” crediting KIC’s support for helping the startup position itself competitively on the global stage.
“PureLube’s journey is a shining example of how innovation and resilience can drive impact,” said Benjamin Gyan-Kesse, Executive Director of KIC.
“Their work demonstrates the value of turning agricultural waste into solutions that benefit farmers, create jobs, and build sustainable agribusiness models.”
The award highlights the growing role of agricultural waste upcycling in Africa’s food systems.
By converting cashew shells, an often-discarded by-product, into farm machinery lubricants, PureLube addresses both sustainability and food security challenges, while strengthening Africa’s agritech reputation.
The GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize is one of the continent’s most prestigious platforms, spotlighting young innovators who are transforming agriculture.
PureLube’s win also reinforces Ghana’s image as a hub for agricultural innovation, powered by youth-led entrepreneurship.
