Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the Bauchi State Government has launched the “Irrigate Nigeria Project,” seeking to refashion agricultural worth in Bauchi and other states.
The launch held on Saturday, 28th February 2025, at Uduko in Gamawa Local Government Area by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), will see 30,000 hectares of land annually in Udubo and boost food security and availability during dry season farming and other agricultural activities, says Governor Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.
“The success of commercial agriculture in a place like Udubo, near the Sahel desert of Yobe, depends on the right technology and ideas.”
Every part of Nigeria is capable of year-round produce from agriculture. This program will not only transform Gamawa but will also serve as an example for other regions in Nigeria,” Governor Bala Mohammed said.
The initiative aims to liberate Nigeria’s huge arable land through irrigation while providing market-driven support for long-term growth and development. Notable figures attended the project’s launch, including Zacheus Adedeji, Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), and Dr. Dahiru Mohammed, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Infrastructure Engineering.
