The Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme for Agribusiness Advancement (YESAA) has announced plans to host Agristartexpo, a platform designed to mobilise youths and women into agribusiness through start-up showcases, masterclasses, and agri-finance conferences.
According to Bisi Oladele, a founding member of YESAA, the event addresses Nigeria’s pressing challenges of food insecurity, inflation, unemployment, rural-urban migration, and poverty by encouraging greater youth and women participation in agriculture.
Co-founder Tony Adeyinka noted that the programme aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision to attract young people into agribusiness. At the same time, Chief Bolade Oluwo, chairman of the initiative, stressed that partnerships with government are limitless in the pursuit of food security.
The organisers also expressed appreciation to the Minister of Agriculture, Abubakar Kyari, for revitalising the sector, and to the Central Bank of Nigeria under Dr. Yemi Cardoso for supporting farmers through fertiliser donation schemes.
Food nutritionist, Dr. Tony Bello, explained that wider youth participation in agriculture will not only improve food security but also guarantee a healthier population.
Similarly, African Development Bank President, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, whose vision underpins the programme, reminded participants that “agriculture is our business.”
