Plateau State Government, in partnership with Plateau Youth Agricultural Empowerment Project (PYAEP) and BARC Farm, has launched an initiative to train and equip farmers with the skills and tools needed to boost productivity and drive economic growth.

The modern farming initiative will equip and train young farmers to cultivate crops and operate modern farming equipment and machinery.

Farmers have expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity and optimism about the future of agriculture in Plateau State over the next three to four years.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang stated, “Plateau’s rich cultural heritage and creative talent are not just treasures of the past, but they are engines of economic growth and sustainability for the future.”

Through the BARC Farms initiative, participants are making tangible progress by thinning maize, rice, and soybeans and weeding rice fields, enhancing overall agricultural productivity.

Hon. Joyce Ramnap emphasised that Plateau State is committed to leveraging agriculture as a key economic growth and development driver.

“We are proud of the progress made so far and look forward to continued collaboration with our farmers, youths, and stakeholders to build a prosperous future for our state,” she said.

Plateau State is positioning its agricultural sector for sustainable growth, while empowering youth and local farmers with practical skills and opportunities.
