Oborevwori Targets Jobs, Food Security with Brazil Ranch Partnership

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has directed a high-level delegation to Brazil to engage with one of the country’s largest and most innovative ranches.

The visit aligns with the Governor’s vision to diversify the state’s economy, strengthen food security, and create sustainable jobs for the people of Delta.

During the working tour, the delegation met with the ranch’s management, inspected modern agricultural facilities, and discussed possible areas of collaboration, including cattle breeding, livestock management, pasture development, dairy production, and agro-processing.

Speaking at the ranch, Dr. Barry Pere Gbe, Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor and Leader of the Delegation, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to agricultural transformation.

“Brazil is renowned for its advancements in livestock and ranching, and we believe that collaboration in this sector will bring immense benefits to our people,” Dr. Gbe stated.

He further noted that the Oborevwori-led government is determined to replicate successful models from Brazil, enhance local capacity, and attract direct investments into Delta State.

Other members of the delegation included: Ada Val Arenyeka, Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Charles Aniagwu, Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads and Public Information), Samuel Oligida, Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Sonny Ekedayen, Commissioner for Economic Planning, Hon. Anthony Elekeokwuri, Director General of the Delta State Investment Development Agency, Barrister George Orogun, Special Adviser on Investments.

The Brazilian hosts, led by Mr. Gustavo Monaco, expressed optimism about the partnership, highlighting Nigeria’s vast market potential and Delta State’s fertile agricultural environment as strong advantages.

Both parties agreed to deepen engagements beyond the visit, focusing on investment opportunities, knowledge exchange, and technology transfer.
