New Call Center Launched To Help Sokoto Farmers Access Timely Advice
Oluwaseyi Awokunle | 5th July 2025

Farmers and agribusinesses in Sokoto State now have access to a dedicated call centre service designed to enhance their access to timely and reliable agricultural information.

The call centre was launched during a recent town hall meeting that brought together key stakeholders, including vendors, community leaders, and Farmer Business Associates (FBAs). The meeting focused on the urgent need to provide farmers with real-time support on issues affecting their productivity and livelihoods through information.

One of the stories shared at the event highlighted the high stakes for many farmers. A farmer reported losing 50% of his crop last season due to a lack of information on pests, diseases, and suitable products. He is currently seeking a loan to restart his farm.

This case highlighted the importance of the new call centre, which is designed to deliver accurate and timely information to farmers, helping them make informed decisions and avoid costly losses.

AGRA supports the initiative and aims to empower smallholder farmers with the knowledge they need to thrive. With this new support system in place, the call centre aims to serve as a lifeline for farmers across Sokoto State.
