Youth Applaud Tinubu’s Choice Of Danfulani To Lead Agricultural Insurance

The North West Youth Network has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Yazeed Shehu Danfulani as the new Managing Director of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC).

The group described the appointment as a reward for competence and a major step forward for youth involvement in agricultural leadership and governance.

In a statement, the youth group said Danfulani’s selection had restored trust among young professionals in the North West, showing that President Tinubu is committed to empowering credible technocrats regardless of age or political background.

“We applaud President Tinubu for this well-considered appointment. Yazeed Shehu Danfulani is a tested, trusted, and transformative leader. His emergence is a strong signal that this administration is serious about driving economic growth through capable hands,” said Bashir Kawu, Coordinator of the North West Youth Network.

Danfulani, a respected agribusiness expert and public finance professional, now leads NAIC, the federal agency responsible for protecting farmers against losses through agricultural insurance.

Kawu noted that Danfulani’s appointment is expected to revitalise NAIC and bring it closer to underserved farmers, especially those in rural areas.

He called it a “masterstroke” given the government’s efforts to boost food security and strengthen the agricultural sector.

“For too long, young farmers in the North West have been left out of key agricultural interventions. With Danfulani in charge of NAIC, we expect to see a shift that gives rural farmers real protection and opportunities to scale,” Kawu added.

The network urged Danfulani to move quickly to ensure that agricultural insurance reaches grassroots farmers, particularly women and youth-led cooperatives.

They emphasised that NAIC must become more visible and accessible.

“This is not the time for bureaucracy. We need action. We expect to see inclusive agricultural insurance that covers dry season farmers, livestock owners, and agritech startups. Let NAIC become a household name, not just an agency with an office in Abuja,” Kawu said.

The group called on other federal agencies to take a cue from this appointment by prioritising merit and professionalism in selecting leaders, especially in the agricultural sector.

In conclusion, they pledged to work with traditional institutions and community leaders to ensure that youth voices continue to shape the future of agriculture and national development.

They see Danfulani as a key turning point in making agricultural insurance more impactful and inclusive.
