The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has formally commenced regulatory operations at newly established annex offices across several strategic local government zones.
Orchestrated under the leadership of the agency’s General Manager, Afolabi Solebo, Esq., the structural decentralisation is explicitly engineered to bring market arbitration services closer to grassroots communities and streamline public access to legal redress.
The expansion directly confronts administrative friction that previously required buyers to travel extensive distances to the state’s central secretariat to report commercial exploitation.
Over the past two years, the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has been making it easier to report unfair business practices.
They have opened new local offices in Ojo, Epe, Agege, and Isolo, joining their existing locations in Ikorodu, Badagry, Bariga, and Ikoyi-Obalende.
The agency’s protective framework covers an expansive matrix of economic activities, stepping in to mediate disputes spanning electricity distribution billing, fraudulent e-commerce marketing, substandard automobile mechanics, and deceptive housing developers.
Consumers suffering from misleading advertisements, hazardous groceries, or unbacked retail warranties can now walk straight into their nearest regional annex to trigger official state intervention.
Mr Solebo emphasised that establishing these front-line offices reinforces the state’s enforcement mechanisms, building a highly competitive, transparent marketplace where ethical business practices are strictly non-negotiable.
LASCOPA has simultaneously rolled out a suite of digitised reporting channels. The agency has launched dedicated digital monitoring handle desks parallel to an active, toll-free consumer defence hotline.
