Summary

IITA is seeking a Research Supervisor to coordinate field research activities focused on soil data collection and nutrient management across Sierra Leone. 

The role involves supervising field campaigns, establishing nutrient omission trials, and supporting the development of site-specific nutrient management (SSNM) practices. 

Responsibilities

• Support the establishment and management of nutrient omission trials for developing site-specific nutrient management tools
• Participate in soil sampling and data collection for digital soil mapping in Sierra Leone
• Contribute to lime incubation calibration experiments
• Train extension agents and farmers in crop management and field techniques
• Design, establish, and maintain field experiments
• Manage, analyse, and prepare data tables and support the preparation of research reports
• Ensure accurate data recording and proper documentation of field trials
• Collect feedback from farmers to improve research approaches and adoption of recommended practices
• Supervise field staff and coordinate field activities
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

• HND or BSc in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, or related field
• Minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience in a similar role
• Proficiency in ICT tools such as Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OCS, and ODK
