AD Ports Group has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with BUA Group and MAIR Group to explore the development of integrated sugar refineries and edible oil processing facilities in Abu Dhabi and selected international markets.

The agreement, signed on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi, brings together the three companies to assess opportunities in agro-processing, food manufacturing, and logistics infrastructure.

The initiative is aligned with the UAE National Food Security Strategy 2051 to strengthen food supply chains while supporting industrial growth and economic diversification.

Under the MoU, the partners will evaluate potential projects at Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi, as well as in parts of Africa and Latin America.

The proposed developments would leverage Khalifa Port’s logistics infrastructure and multimodal connectivity to support large-scale agro-industrial operations.

The partnership also covers opportunities across grains, pulses, animal feed, agricultural commodities, and related maritime and distribution services.

AD Ports Group stated that the collaboration builds on its expanding agro-industrial footprint, including ongoing agri-bulk handling and storage projects in Pakistan and Kazakhstan.

Industry stakeholders say the initiative could improve food processing capacity, enhance trade flows between Africa, the Middle East and global markets, and create new value across agricultural supply chains.

If implemented, the projects would support farmers, processors and exporters by improving access to markets and reducing supply chain risks.

The companies noted that further feasibility studies and commercial assessments will determine the scope and timing of individual projects under the agreement.
