The Lagos State Government has hosted the fifth edition of its annual Food Festival, bringing together farmers, caterers, and food entrepreneurs to celebrate and strengthen the city’s agro value chain.
Organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems, the festival took place at Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island on Sunday, providing a vibrant platform for networking, showcasing innovations, and fostering economic opportunities across the food and agriculture sector.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who addressed attendees at the event, commended the ministry’s efforts to ensure that stakeholders in the agricultural space continue to thrive.
“The growth of our food sector depends on the collaboration of all players in the value chain. This festival demonstrates Lagos State’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for our farmers, vendors, and food entrepreneurs,” he said.
The festival featured food vendors and caterers from across Lagos, highlighting the diversity and innovation within the local agro-industry.
Participants showcased a range of products from fresh farm produce to processed foods, allowing consumers to experience Lagos’ agricultural offerings.
Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Abisola Olusanya, emphasised the festival’s role in creating opportunities for all stakeholders, particularly young people seeking to engage in agriculture and related businesses.
She noted that the event serves as a platform for knowledge sharing, capacity building, and exposure to modern farming and processing practices.
The Lagos Food Festival also focused on promoting climate-smart farming, sustainable livelihoods, and youth employment within the agricultural sector.
