The Seed Entrepreneurs Association of Nigeria (SEEDAN) has renewed its partnership with the National Agricultural Seeds Council (NASC) to strengthen collaboration and accelerate growth in the country’s seed industry.
During a courtesy visit to the NASC headquarters in Abuja, the SEEDAN delegation met with the NASC’s Director-General, Hon. Dr Fatuhu Mohammed, to discuss strategies for improving seed production, certification and distribution nationwide.
He noted that increasing farmers’ access to certified, high-performing seeds remains central to boosting agricultural productivity and national food security.
During the meeting, both organisations prioritised discussions on enhancing seed certification systems and quality assurance frameworks.
These measures are to ensure that Nigerian farmers consistently receive quality-assured seeds capable of delivering improved yields.
Hon. Mohammed commended SEEDAN for sustained engagement with the council, emphasising that both bodies share a unified vision of building a resilient, globally competitive seed sector.
He emphasised that such partnerships are crucial for addressing productivity gaps, reducing dependence on imported seeds, and enhancing local seed systems.
The NASC Director-General further affirmed that the council would continue to align with all stakeholders across the agricultural value chain, advancing the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly its targets for seed system transformation and national food security.
