Kebbi State has intensified efforts to tackle child malnutrition by distributing Tombrown, a locally produced nutritious food blend designed to boost children’s health and development.
The initiative, launched recently by the First Lady, Hajia Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, aims to combat micronutrient deficiencies among children across the state.
A monitoring and distribution committee was set up after the launch to ensure the food reached various communities.
The committee, led by Hajia Aisha Muhammad Maikurata, Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, supervised food delivery to children in Dangoma Village, Kalgo Local Government Area, and Bunza Local Government Area.
The events occurred at the Primary Health Care Centre in Dangoma and the Bunza Local Government Secretariat, where mothers and children gathered to receive the fortified food.
Hajia Maikurata emphasised that the state government is dedicated to improving children’s nutrition.
She urged women to learn how to make healthy meals for their families.
“The state government will not relent in its efforts to provide good governance and improve the lives of the people,” she assured.
The Kalgo and Bunza LGAs Chairmen, Hon. Yahaya Kuka and Hon. Zayanu Shahu Bunza, expressed appreciation to the First Lady for her intervention and pledged continued support for the government’s nutrition and welfare initiatives.
