The Cocoa, Coffee, and Sheanut Farmers Association of Ghana has expressed appreciation to the Government and the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) for increasing the producer price of cocoa from GH₵3,228.75 to GH₵3,628.75 per 64kg for the 2025/2026 cocoa season.
This adjustment gives farmers an additional GH₵400 per bag, which the Association says demonstrates the government’s continued responsiveness to farmers’ needs.
In a statement signed by Alhaji Alhassan Bukari, National Chief Farmer, on behalf of the National Executive Committee, the Association noted that the increment marked a significant improvement and affirmed the government’s commitment to listening to the legitimate concerns of cocoa producers across the country.
The Association also commended COCOBOD and the government for sustaining initiatives that make cocoa farming more profitable, sustainable, and appealing to younger generations.
It cited ongoing interventions such as the provision of free fertilisers (liquid and granular), the upcoming Ghana Cocoa Traceability System, and a planned Tertiary Education Scholarship Scheme for children of cocoa farmers starting from the 2026/2027 academic year.
While acknowledging these efforts, the Association urged the timely distribution of subsidised inputs to eligible farmers nationwide.
It also called for greater investment in agricultural extension services and community education to ensure smooth adoption of the new traceability system.
“We believe that this additional producer price announcement, coupled with broader sector reforms, presents an opportunity for renewed trust and stronger cooperation between farmers, COCOBOD, and the government,” the statement read.
The Association concluded by encouraging all cocoa farmers across Ghana to remain supportive of ongoing reforms aimed at building a more equitable and sustainable cocoa industry.
