Ekiti Launches Harvesting Hope Caravan to Protect Farmers
Atinuke Ajeniyi | 9th September 2025

The Ekiti State Government has launched the Harvesting Hope Caravan and signed an insurance policy designed to safeguard farmers against losses from natural disasters.

The initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthens efforts to boost food security across Nigeria.

Speaking during the launch, the Governor said the insurance policy, awarded under the National Agribusiness Policy Mechanism (NAPM), is a recognition of the resilience and contribution of Ekiti farmers.

He added that the award belongs to “the hardworking farmers of Ekiti who, with the right support, continue to prove that agriculture can drive prosperity and growth.”

The Harvesting Hope Caravan will serve as a grassroots platform to promote dialogue, build partnerships, and unify both national and state-level efforts in food production.

The insurance scheme is expected to provide farmers with financial security, boost confidence, and encourage expanded agricultural productivity.

Since taking office, the administration has invested significantly in agriculture through free and subsidised fertiliser distribution, land clearing, tractorisation, and input support. Partnerships with credible stakeholders such as YSJ Farms have also attracted thousands of young people back into farming.

Reiterating the state’s commitment, the Governor noted that Ekiti is positioned to play a vital role in Nigeria’s food security drive.

“We will continue to empower our farmers, strengthen the agricultural value chain, and create opportunities that benefit every household across our state,” he said.
