The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Osun State chapter, has endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term in office, commending his administration’s commitment to boosting agricultural production and strengthening food security.
The endorsement was made on Thursday during the commissioning of the farmers’ house and the distribution of free agricultural inputs to rice farmers in Osogbo.
Speaking at the event, AFAN’s representative, David Ogunsade, who Toki Adekunle represented, said the decision was influenced by Adeleke’s achievements in the agricultural sector and the importance of completing ongoing projects.
“Our Governor is a man of his word. He has supported us with tractors, tools, fertilisers, and has also ensured the completion of this building. Because of his contributions to agriculture and food security, we endorse him for a second term,” Ogunsade said.
He added that farmers expect more interventions, including rural road construction to ease the transportation of farm produce, the provision of buses for the farmers’ association, and the establishment of value-added agro-industries.
Similarly, the representative of rice farmers, Ayeni Mathew, praised Adeleke’s support to the sector, noting that the state’s rice farmers, with over 1,000 hectares under cultivation, have benefited greatly from the free input distribution.
“As rice farmers, we cannot afford to say goodbye to the support we currently enjoy from the Governor. We are ready to stand with him in 2026,” Mathew said.
n his remarks, Governor Adeleke said the commissioning was not just the opening of a building but a demonstration of his administration’s focus on farmers’ welfare and food sufficiency.
“Over 300 rice farmers will go home today with free paddy rice seeds to boost production in our state. This is part of our broader agenda to ensure food security,” Adeleke stated.
Osun State Commissioner for Agriculture added that ten rice farmers were selected from each local government area, making up 300 beneficiaries of the distribution programme.
He urged farmers to register and collect their voter cards before the 2026 governorship election to sustain the progress in the agricultural sector.
