Governor Umar Namadi has declared that Jigawa State is on an irreversible path toward transformative development, citing critical achievements in agriculture, infrastructure, and youth empowerment as the backbone of his administration’s “Greater Jigawa” agenda.

During a statewide broadcast to mark the 34th anniversary of Jigawa State’s creation, Governor Namadi underscored his administration’s commitment to accelerating progress across all sectors, particularly agriculture, where he said historic strides have been made.

“Our Agricultural Transformation Agenda is gradually unleashing decades of untapped agricultural potential.”

Governor Namadi stated. “Just yesterday, I signed into law the establishment of the Jigawa Agricultural Transformation Agency, which will spearhead the modernisation of agriculture in our state.”

In a decisive step to strengthen livestock production, the governor announced the establishment of a dedicated Ministry for Livestock Development through an Executive Order.

“This new ministry,” he explained, “is a critical component of our Agricultural Transformation Agenda and will ensure that this vital sector is given the attention it rightly deserves.”

Governor Namadi also highlighted remarkable infrastructural progress, including the completion of 26 inherited road projects covering over 300 kilometres and the commencement of 45 new road projects spanning over 800 kilometres within just two years of his administration.

“Progress towards the fulfilment of our promise of great improvements in the delivery of critical infrastructure is unprecedented,” he affirmed.

On youth and women empowerment, the governor revealed that his government has implemented over 60 employment and empowerment programs, reaching over 300,000 beneficiaries across the state.

“We have remained focused on producing the promised results,” Governor Namadi said. “At the core of our efforts is inclusive and human-centred economic growth and development.”

While celebrating these gains, Governor Namadi acknowledged persistent challenges, particularly in education, industrialisation, and youth development.

“Yes, we have witnessed significant progress,” he noted. “However, challenges like the high number of out-of-school children and underutilisation of our youthful population require new approaches and continued commitment.”

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to the 12-Point Agenda launched at the start of his government, describing it as “a compact between the Government and the People.”

He called on citizens to embrace collective responsibility and patriotism in advancing Jigawa’s progress.

“Everybody is a critical stakeholder in the development of Jigawa State,” he said. “We must all recognise that every one of us has a role to play in making Jigawa State great.”

Jigawa State, established on August 27, 1991, has evolved from what Governor Namadi described as a “bereft situation” into a model of development, characterised by governance transparency, infrastructure delivery, and agricultural productivity.

As the state marks 34 years of existence, Governor Namadi assured that his administration remains focused on sustaining the gains and addressing lingering challenges to achieve a truly transformed Jigawa.
