The Government of Imo State has urged the 2025 Batch B Stream I Corps Members to contribute meaningfully to rural development as they begin their primary assignments across the state.
The Executive Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, gave this charge during the official closing ceremony of the orientation course at the NYSC camp in Eziama Obaire.
He encouraged the Corps Members to promote socioeconomic growth in Imo through active involvement in rural health care, enhancing secondary school education, and infrastructural development.
Governor Uzodimma also assured them of his administration’s readiness to support creative ideas and reward outstanding service throughout the year.
Representing the Governor at the event, the NYSC State Governing Board Chairman and Commissioner for Youth Development and Talent Hunt, Hon. Emeka Mandela Ukaegbu, advised the Corps Members to uphold discipline, resourcefulness, and other positive values learnt during their orientation.
In recognition of exceptional conduct, two Corps Members, Dr Ogban Nsenanzama (IM/25B/0305) and Mary Benson (IM/25B/0376), were each awarded ₦250,000 by Comrade Kenny Iyere, renowned philanthropist and Coordinator-General of YEIDEP.
He further pledged monthly stipends to those who participate in the organisation’s digital programme.
The Corps Members were also encouraged to pursue self-development by participating in the Post-Camp Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training.
Earlier in his address, the NYSC Imo State Coordinator, Mr Evans Okwor, thanked the State Government and stakeholders for ensuring a successful orientation exercise.
He also reminded Corps Members to uphold the advice the NYSC Director-General gave during his nationwide address.
Top security officials, including representatives of the Brigade Commander and the Commissioner of Police, attended the ceremony.
