The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has accredited 11 academic programmes at the National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) levels at Audu Bako College of Agriculture, Dambatta (ABCOAD), Kano State to strengthen manpower development in Nigeria’s agricultural sector.

According to NBTE, the accreditation, confirmed in a letter dated 12 August 2025 and signed by its Director of Polytechnic and Allied Programmes, Dr Fatima Kabir Umar, followed a Resource Verification and Accreditation exercise at the institution.

The newly accredited programmes include: HND Horticultural Technology, HND Fisheries Technology, HND Pasture and Range Management, ND Food Technology, ND Irrigation Agronomy and six other courses.

Reacting to the development, the Provost, Prof M. A. Wailare, described the milestone as a significant boost to the college’s academic standing, highlighting that the rigorous accreditation process reflects ABCOAD’s commitment to high-quality standards, modern infrastructure, and skilled faculty.

He commended the Kano State Government, under Governor Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf, for funding the process and praised the dedication of staff, department heads, and stakeholders during preparations.

NBTE accreditation certifies that technical and vocational institutions meet national and international academic standards.

With this achievement, ABCOAD expanded its academic reach, fostered stronger research collaborations, and contributed to Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
