Governor Calls for Resuscitation of Dam Project to Boost Agriculture

Governor Bala Abdukadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has urged the management of the Hadeja Jama’are River Basin Development Authority to prioritise the long-awaited Kafin Zaki Dam project to improve agriculture and livestock development in the region. 

During a courtesy visit from the authority’s managing director, Engineer Rabi’u Suleman Bichi, the governor highlighted that the dam’s completion would create thousands of job opportunities and improve food security and irrigation in benefiting communities.

He described the Kafin Zaki Dam as a strategic agricultural infrastructure vital for transforming the economy of Bauchi and its neighbouring states. 

The governor called for collaboration to remove obstacles impeding the project and stressed the importance of equitable distribution of development projects across all states under the authority’s operational coverage to foster regional integration and harmony. 

Engineer Bichi noted that the federal government has allocated over ninety billion naira for various projects, including water resources management and youth empowerment, praising the state government for supporting food security initiatives.
