The World Bank has officially joined Mastercard and the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) as co-chair of the Mobilizing Access to the Digital Economy (MADE) Alliance: Africa.

Through the combined power of the World Bank’s digital transformation leadership, AfDB’s regional development expertise, Mastercard’s technology and infrastructure, and the Alliance is building a more resilient, inclusive, and digitally empowered Africa.
The MADE Alliance seeks to impact 100 million people by 2034, especially those in remote communities with limited access to digital services.
The initiative is for smallholder farmers, agri-businesses, and rural entrepreneurs, offering them tools critical for competitiveness in the global digital economy.
The Alliance is opening new avenues for Africa’s most vulnerable populations, leveraging solutions such as mobile money, digital IDs, e-commerce platforms, and agri-data systems.
