The PEACECORE project, supported by German funding, has launched its initiatives in Taraba State, Nigeria, focusing on facilitating peaceful interactions among farmers, herders, and conflict-affected communities.
The workshop featured contributions from Dr. Julie Sanda, the Director-General of the Plateau Peace Building Agency, who shared key insights, successful practices, and expertise learned from Plateau’s own peacebuilding experiences.
The project, executed in partnership with Taraba State Bureau for Peace and Conflict Management, envisions “a Taraba where conflicts are transformed, peace is institutionalised, and citizens live in dignity, security, and harmony.”
To realise this vision, PEACECORE conducted a five-day strategic planning workshop aimed at co-creating a comprehensive five-year roadmap for the Bureau’s conflict prevention and peacebuilding strategies.
This effort marks a highly important advancement in developing strong, community-driven peace infrastructures within the state.
