Agritech Firm Supports Farmers with Seedlings to Boost Yields
Oluwaseyi Awokunle | 11th July 2025

Agritech firm ThriveAgric has commenced the distribution of seedlings to farmers across three Nigerian states, targeting coverage of 1,000 hectares which marks a significant step in its mission to support food production and secure sustainable agriculture across Africa.

According to the organisation, each seedling is being delivered with a custom protective basket designed to reduce transplant shock and guard against early-stage threats, giving farmers a stronger start in the planting season.

“This is only the beginning,” ThriveAgric stated, adding that its network of trained extension workers dubbed Climate Champions will supervise the transplanting process and ongoing care to ensure optimal outcomes from soil to sprout.

The initiative aims to strengthen the value chain by merging innovation with practical, on-ground support.

By deploying Climate Champions to guide local farmers, the project also seeks to embed climate-smart practices in day-to-day farming operations.

As part of its long-term vision, ThriveAgric says the project contributes to a broader future where Africa not only feeds itself but also plays a vital role in the global food system.
