Senior scientists and lead researchers from the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) have recently gathered in Zambia to align ongoing research with One CGIAR’s global priorities to discuss methods to strengthen collaboration, promote innovation, and embed climate resilience into agricultural research across Africa.
The strategic session brought together research experts, development partners, and collaborators committed to advancing agricultural transformation on the continent.
The agenda included discussions on how to adapt existing research projects to better address climate challenges, enhance productivity, and support smallholder farmers.
There was an emphasis placed on making scientific work more responsive to the growing climate risks that threaten food systems in Africa.
Participants also discovered how innovation can drive more sustainable agricultural practices and support long-term food security.
The alignment with One CGIAR priorities ensures that African agricultural research contributes to global efforts while addressing local needs and priorities.
IITA and its partners reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating on strengthening agricultural systems, enhancing livelihoods, and promoting environmental sustainability through science-driven solutions.
