Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo and African Development Bank President Dr. Akinwumi Adesina have called for stronger intergenerational partnerships to secure Africa’s agricultural future.
Speaking at the AgriConnect Summit 2025 in Lagos, both leaders emphasised the urgent need to connect Africa’s youth with seasoned agricultural professionals and policymakers to bridge the knowledge and innovation gap in the sector.
Held under the theme “Bridging the Generational Divide: Tactics and Strategies for Building Future Agripreneurs,” the summit provided a platform for dialogue, mentorship, and funding to nurture Africa’s next agribusiness leaders.
“This summit is a movement to transform agriculture from the ground up,” said Temire Bob-Egbe, Founding Partner at Lorien Works.
“We’re creating a space where future agripreneurs are not only inspired but supported.”
Attendees included global stakeholders such as Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the EU Ambassador to Nigeria, and the Consul General of China, reflecting the growing recognition of youth as key drivers of agricultural transformation in Africa.
