To guarantee food sufficiency, the Lagos State Government tasks agricultural stakeholders to adopt technology-driven solutions through the Lagos State Agricultural Development Authority.

The call was made at a pre-season training for the stakeholders at the Women’s Development Centre in Agege, Lagos, according to a statement released on Sunday, 4th April.

The program, which was themed “AI-Powered Urban Agriculture in Lagos State: Enhancing Agricultural Extension Services for Increased Food Production,” brought together agricultural extension agents, farmers’ group members, and other important stakeholders.

In his welcoming speech, the LSADA Project Manager, Aliru Alade, underlined the value of the yearly training in enhancing the capabilities of field officers and stakeholders in anticipation of the forthcoming farming season.

“This initiative aims to equip our farmers with cutting-edge knowledge and modern techniques that will significantly improve both the quality and quantity of agricultural output across the state,” he said.

The project manager, represented by the  Director of Rural Institution Development, Aderonke Toju-Tubi, pointed out that the subject mirrored the state government’s forward-thinking goal of using technology to revolutionise agriculture in Lagos’ urban setting.

Alade also expressed gratitude for State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s unwavering support, pointing out that his strategic policy direction was still advancing the state’s farmer-centric initiatives.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture and Food Systems, Oluwarotimi Fashola, said in his remarks that the training was a chance to strengthenthe state’s farmers, extension agents, and agricultural foundation.
