According to Edward Ato Sarpong, managing director, the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) PLC will continue to advance its primary mission as the preferred bank for financing agriculture.
The commitment of ADB PLC to spearhead financial intermediation for Ghana’s MSMEs was also reiterated by him.
Speaking to the media at the Kwahu Business Forum, Mr. Sarpong said that ADB was being strengthened as part of a new strategic orientation to become the leading facilitator of MSME success in Ghana, emphasising the sector’s vital role in national development, job creation, and poverty reduction.
“As a strategic bank brand, we recognise MSMEs’ indispensable role in driving economic growth. ADB PLC is taking bold steps to expand access to tailored financing, technical support, and business advisory services to help entrepreneurs thrive,” Mr Sarpong stated.
He further disclosed that the bank would soon roll out a nationwide MSME Support Programme focused on capacity building, digital inclusion, and flexible credit schemes, with particular attention to women and youth-led enterprises.
The MD also emphasised the bank’s ongoing collaboration with regulatory agencies, trade associations, and development partners to create an ecosystem where micro, small, and medium enterprises can scale up and grow sustainably.
He stated that since then, the business community, particularly the MSME sector, have praised and become excited about the new vision and strategic direction.
According to him, the bank was currently choosing which MSMEs that took part in the forum were strategic and potentially sustainable so that it could offer specialised financial services to support their growth.
