The Sokoto State Government has reiterated its commitment to expanding cooperation and fortifying connections with the Government of Hungary to combat insecurity and promote important areas, including agriculture, education, healthcare, and youth development.

The administration revealed this when a high-level Hungarian team, headed by State Secretary Tristan Azbej, visited the state to strengthen ties and expand cooperation in healthcare, education, and agriculture.

Governor Aliyu acknowledged Hungary’s support for Sokoto State but emphasised that his administration has invested substantial resources and made practical efforts to confront insecurity and establish a conducive climate for growth.

He said that the state has established its own security organisation to support the work of traditional security agencies in the fight against banditry and that this partnership is already producing impressive outcomes.

During the visit, the head of the group and the Hungarian State Secretary, Mr. Tristan Azbej, disclosed that the Hungarian government had spent over $1 million on agricultural, healthcare, education, and other development projects in Sokoto State during the previous five years.
